PyTorch CUDA Dependency Compatibility Discussion
ezyang · x · 2026-07-12
A reshared post asks: If PyTorch's CUDA wheels make cutedsl a required runtime dependency, how much of a compatibility impact would that have on existing users?
Another specific question is whether it should only require a "greater than or equal to a certain version" during installation, and that this version should be the latest one available at the time of PyTorch's release, in order to reduce the risk of dependency breakage.
