The author argues that as coding capabilities across different labs and model sizes converge, paying a 5x to 10x premium for a "little bit of extra intelligence" becomes highly questionable.
Using GLM-5.2 and Fable 5 as examples, they point out that for 95% of tasks, most users can barely tell the difference, but the impact on the bill will be massive.
