Although the latest generation of frontier models has improved in "intelligence efficiency per Token," they are typically configured with larger inference budgets. In actual complex or Agentic tasks, models like Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 tend to consume significantly more Tokens than their predecessors.
Furthermore, frontier AI labs are releasing increasingly powerful new models at an unprecedented pace, with major updates shifting from quarterly rollouts to an almost weekly cadence.
