Chinese Chip Startup Unveils Aggressive Process Roadmap
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-07-11
A Chinese IDM chip startup (元吉微半导体) has revealed an extremely aggressive process roadmap: planning mass production of 90nm chips in 2026, mastering 28nm in 2027, and reaching 5nm by 2029. Commentators point out that given the fallout from the past Wuhan HSMC incident, ASML and Nikon are highly unlikely to sell immersion lithography machines to Chinese startups again, leading to accusations that these goals are pure pipe dreams.
