Apple is suing OpenAI, accusing former employees of stealing trade secrets to develop competing AI hardware.

The lawsuit names OpenAI's hardware lead Tang Tan (formerly Apple's VP of Product Design) and former Apple engineer Chang Liu, alleging the latter downloaded numerous confidential hardware documents. It also claims OpenAI encouraged departing staff to share materials, schematics, and product details. Apple noted that over 400 former Apple employees now work at OpenAI, and is demanding OpenAI destroy the relevant materials and redesign future devices utilizing the technology.
