The author conducted a comparative test on physics simulation HTML5 Canvas scenarios, benchmarking GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra against GPT-5.5.
The test included three scenarios:
- A monster truck backflipping onto a parked car
- A stunt car flying over six buses and crashing into a brick wall
- A train derailing off a broken bridge into the water
The results were somewhat surprising:
- Sol Ultra produced cleaner visuals and richer details, but often felt physically weaker
- GPT-5.5 delivered more believable physics in the truck flip and train derailment; the bus jump was a tie
Regarding costs, the author noted:
- GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra: $0.33
- GPT-5.5: $0.11
Therefore, for physics-heavy coding tasks, GPT-5.5 remains the more cost-effective choice.
