Some users report that GPT 5.6 seems to consume usage quotas faster than 5.5, particularly in scenarios like Codex.
The suggested workaround for usage limit issues is to lower the reasoning effort. It's also noted that 5.6's Sol Medium doesn't directly correspond to 5.5, and since Sol Low is the default tier, many tasks don't require cranking the intensity up to xhigh.
