ChatGPT Atlas to Be Discontinued
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-07-10
OpenAI is discontinuing the ChatGPT Atlas browser. The task-executing agent browser will be shut down less than a year after its launch, with a target deprecation date of August 9.
Reports indicate this decision aligns with OpenAI's efforts to reduce "distractions" and catch up with Anthropic's productivity features. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that OpenAI plans to merge ChatGPT, Codex, and Atlas into a desktop "super app," and ChatGPT Work appears to be the result of this direction.
