Reports indicate Meta plans to begin production of its in-house AI chip, Iris, in September. Part of the MTIA project, it is co-designed with Broadcom and manufactured by TSMC.
The chip completed bug testing in about six weeks. Meta plans to use it to supplement its existing NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, scaling compute capacity from 7GW in 2026 to 14GW in 2027.
