India AI Job Market: Java Demand Beats LLM

After tracking over 11,000 AI and data science roles in India, the author found that market demand for foundational skills still far exceeds that for cutting-edge AI tech. In job descriptions, Python, Machine Learning, and SQL top the list, while Java ranks seventh in demand, higher than LLMs at tenth. Data shows that companies (like Accenture and TCS) are primarily integrating AI into existing Java and Azure systems rather than rebuilding their businesses around large models. It may take another 1-2 hiring cycles for true "Generative AI Engineers" to become a mainstream job title.
