GeGe AI Focuses on Chinese Music Generation
量子位 · wechat · 2026-07-10
This post introduces the models and case studies of "GeGe AI" for Chinese music generation. The author generated a Chinese song in a zero-shot manner, emphasizing that its articulation, melisma, humming, and overall vibe feel much closer to a song written by a native Chinese speaker.
The post explains why many mainstream AI music models struggle with Chinese: the language has fixed tonal pitches, clear syllable boundaries, and stricter phonetic alignment requirements. Instead of fine-tuning an existing English music model, GeGe AI pre-trained a 1-billion-parameter end-to-end model from scratch. It can generate a complete song up to 3 minutes long in one go based on lyrics, style, mood, and a specified singer, while outputting isolated vocal and accompaniment tracks.
