OpenAI May Launch a Smartphone Within Two Years
airkatakana · x · 2026-07-10
The author suggests that OpenAI is striving to bring Agentic AI to the general public, provided the setup is extremely simple—such as an out-of-the-box agent capable of directly taking over all files and apps on a phone. Due to the closed nature of Apple's ecosystem, this level of deep integration is difficult to achieve on the iPhone. Consequently, the author predicts OpenAI might launch its own smartphone or similar hardware device within the next two years.
