LLMs Approaching 'Good Enough' Stage
andrewchen · x · 2026-07-10
Andrew Chen believes many 'everyday' LLM queries are nearing 'good enough,' with different frontier models not necessarily distinguishable in blind tests, leading to diminishing marginal returns across many consumer scenarios.
He further predicts that open-weight models will handle the majority of queries, AI prices will continue to drop, and free or ad-supported AI will emerge. As model quality gaps narrow, competition will shift to privacy, interconnection, bundling, and product design.
