NYT Demands Logs to Prove ChatGPT Infringement

The New York Times is requesting chat logs to prove that ChatGPT reproduces its copyrighted news content in outputs, potentially stemming from training data or web searches.

In court, OpenAI argued that this would harm user privacy and that providing de-identified data is highly burdensome; however, recent testimony reportedly reveals they had actually conducted searches on their own datasets previously.
