GPT-5.6 and Codex Merged into Desktop App

This post shares hands-on impressions of GPT-5.6 Sol, describing it as fast and priced at roughly half of Fable, with about a month of internal testing. It excels in programming, writing, design, and knowledge work, making it particularly suited for handling entire workflows like emails, meeting notes, and candidate screening.
Additionally, Codex has been merged into ChatGPT Desktop, splitting the interface into ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT Codex. The author concludes that while GPT-5.6 isn't as top-tier as Fable, its ease of use, speed, and affordability make it an ideal default model for daily tasks.
