Perplexity Discusses Model Upgrade Routing

Arav Srinivas stated that the optimal long-term synergy between open-source and frontier models involves post-training models to learn when to escalate tasks to more powerful, expensive models.
He believes this capability should operate within an agent harness already serving millions of users. Perplexity holds a unique advantage here and will soon release more details via research papers and blog posts.
