Lethe: A Local Document Anonymization Tool
Helpful-Ad-4853 · reddit · 2026-07-09
The author developed Lethe, a locally run de-identification tool, to feed confidential documents into any LLM without leaking names or counterparty information.
It supports Word, PPT, PDF, and Excel. It first replaces entities with stable tokens and saves the mapping locally with encryption; after the model responds, it can restore the original text using the Job ID. The author emphasizes that the entire process is offline, requires no API Key, has no telemetry, and supports local OCR.
