Meta Exec Calls AI Development a Sputnik Moment

At the Scale conference, Meta stated that AI development is experiencing a "Sputnik moment," predicting that massive investments over the next few years will yield significant breakthroughs.
As progress accelerates, the industry is shifting from sole GPU constraints to comprehensive shortages across CPUs, memory, and disks. With resources like HBM, DRAM, and hard drives currently in short supply, Meta is forced to seek alternative cloud capacities and accelerators to meet demand.
