Global AI Chip HBM Supply Monopolized by SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron
builderjaydub · x · 2026-07-08
Every AI chip requires HBM (High Bandwidth Memory), yet only three companies globally have the manufacturing capability: SK hynix is Nvidia's primary supplier, handling about 2/3 of the next-generation HBM4 supply; Samsung received Nvidia certification in late 2025 and began mass production; Micron is the sole US-based manufacturer, holding a unique strategic advantage in the supply chain. The construction of the entire AI computing infrastructure relies entirely on these three companies, with no fourth alternative currently available, forming a highly concentrated global supply chain landscape.
