Compass: Pre-Execution Authorization Gateway for Paid Agents

Exciting-Leadership9 · reddit · 2026-07-08

An indie developer is building Compass, an intent execution gateway for autonomous agents capable of making payments, deployed right before signature or transaction approval paths. The core idea is that post-execution monitoring is too late once an agent can independently call paid APIs, tools, data, or on-chain services. If compromised, misled, or overly authorized, funds could already be lost. Therefore, Compass pre-validates whether every proposed payment, transaction, or tool call aligns with the agent's authorization scope—including spend limits, counterparty whitelists, token rules, destination rules, slippage limits, and escalation conditions—before deciding to allow, block, or escalate the action, all while logging an audit trail. The author is seeking prototype testing and technical feedback for use cases like x402, Solana agent payments, paid MCP servers, wallet automation, and embedded wallets.
