Google-Backed FireSat Uses AI to Monitor Wildfires Globally
ymatias · x · 2026-07-08
The FireSat initiative, led by Earth Fire Alliance with Muon Space building the satellites, is creating an unprecedented wildfire monitoring dataset. Google Research and partners are developing a dedicated satellite constellation to provide continuous coverage, detecting wildfires before they spread. Funded by the Bezos Earth Fund and the Moore Foundation, it's a representative case of applying practical AI to climate resilience.
