Google Adds 4 New Features to Gemini API Managed Agents
_philschmid · x · 2026-07-08
Google has rolled out four new capabilities for Gemini API's Managed Agents: background execution for asynchronous long-running tasks, remote MCP servers for direct internal endpoint connections, custom function calls combined with server-side code execution, and credential refresh to update API tokens across turns without resetting sandbox states. The goal is to evolve agents into true background collaborators rather than interactive chatbots.
