AI Moral Status Goes Far Beyond Consciousness

Researchers point out that the moral status and well-being of AI systems are far more complex than simply asking "is it conscious?". Further clarification is needed on exactly "who" might possess consciousness, what types of conscious experiences there might be, and whether we truly care about consciousness itself or some other attribute.
