MCP Librarian: Index and Manage Other MCP Servers
dr_edc_ · reddit · 2026-07-07
An indie developer released MCP Librarian, a middleware MCP server that sits in front of other MCP servers to provide curated playbooks and help to agents on demand. Most LLM clients lazily load MCP tools, meaning agents only see tool names initially and must spend tokens and make calls to fetch full schemas, often relying on trial and error. This tool reveals all connected MCP tools (grouped by category) to the agent in a single call, supporting fuzzy search and allowing users to dive into individual servers for manually curated workflows, pitfalls, and tips. It is open-sourced on GitHub and published to crates.io.
