After an eight-year absence, AI researcher Shane Gu has returned to the UK to work at the Google DeepMind London headquarters and revisited his PhD lab at Cambridge. Expressing his fondness for the European academic ecosystem, he believes its rich history helps researchers resist short-term FOMO and remains optimistic about the continued growth of AI researchers in Europe.
