Stripe CEO: AI Agents Will Need Their Own Bank Accounts

Stripe CEO Patrick Collison outlined a vision for financial infrastructure tailored to autonomous AI agents. These agents will make automated payment decisions at a micro-level, settle bills monthly, and give rise to an "agents hiring agents" commerce model. Stripe currently processes about 1% of global GDP, much of which is already automated cloud computing spend with no human pressing a button.
