Atlas Steals the Show at World Cup Halftime, Mass Production Plans Announced
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-07-06
Boston Dynamics' humanoid robot Atlas stole the spotlight during the halftime break of the World Cup Round of 16 match between Brazil and Norway by handing the match ball to the referee and mimicking Erling Haaland's signature celebration. Commercially, Hyundai Motor Group fully acquired Boston Dynamics last month. The company has already started mass production with full orders this year and plans to scale up to 30,000 units by 2028. The first batch of Atlas robots will be deployed at Hyundai's Metaplant in Georgia, USA, for tasks like material handling.
