Robinhood Launches Agentic Trading: AI Trades Real Money for 27M Users
新智元 · wechat · 2026-07-05
On May 27, 2026, US retail broker Robinhood launched the beta of Agentic Trading, allowing roughly 27 million users to connect AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT to its trading interface. The AI analyzes and executes real-money trades using account funds, not paper trading. Users must open an isolated "Agentic Account" separate from their main portfolio; the AI can only access specifically allocated funds, with push notifications and logs for every trade and a one-click disconnect option.
Previously, platforms like UnusualWhales used MCP (Model Context Protocol) to feed over a hundred financial data endpoints—such as options flow, dark pool prints, and Congressional holdings—into Claude and Cursor. However, this only gave AI "eyes" (data) without touching the accounts. Now, Robinhood, TradeStation, Public.com, and ThinkMarkets (ChelseaAI) are adding the "hands," letting AI execute live trades. The barrier to entry has dropped from coders to anyone who can speak a command into their phone.
Robinhood's disclaimer emphasizes that AI can make mistakes, misread instructions, and act on outdated information, making account monitoring the user's sole responsibility. The core issue is AI agents transitioning from read-only analysis to real-money execution, where LLM hallucinations directly translate to financial risk.
