Microsoft Merges Consumer and Enterprise Copilot, Unified App in August

According to The Information, Microsoft plans to consolidate its consumer and enterprise Copilot into a single unified application while removing underutilized features. Slated for release in August, the new version will integrate AI coding tools, paid AutoPilot agents, and add-on modules like Copilot Cowork. Executive Jacob Andreou stated internally that "winning and maintaining user trust is the foundation," underscoring a sense of urgency regarding product competitiveness.

Copilot's paid subscribers grew from 15 million in January to 20 million in April, but it still lags significantly behind ChatGPT's 50+ million paid users. This consolidation is seen as a critical move for Microsoft to accelerate its catch-up in the AI assistant market.
