AI Compute Boom Drives Sharp Surge in Memory Chip Prices
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-07-04
The AI capital expenditure cycle is pushing memory chips into an unexpectedly strong pricing upcycle. UBS forecasts DRAM prices to rise 32% QoQ in Q3 and another 18% in Q4; NAND prices are expected to increase 30% in Q3 and 12% in Q4. AI demand is tightening supply across HBM, DRAM, and NAND. UBS also predicts the DRAM market will remain in short supply at least through 2028, as demand growth in 2027 will significantly outpace supply growth.
