Larry Page's 2007 Prediction: AI Relies on Compute, Not Clever Algorithms

Google co-founder Larry Page predicted back in 2007 that AI development would rely primarily on massive computation rather than blackboard-style clever algorithms. Using human DNA—which compresses to about 600MB and is smaller than modern operating systems—as an example, he analogized that the essence of intelligence might lie in scaled computation. This quote from Google TechTalks is considered an early insight into the "compute is intelligence" paradigm.
