Google introduces Paper Assistant Tool (PAT), an AI framework for reviewing full scientific papers. It checks theoretical results, verifies experiments, and flags flaws. By leveraging inference scaling for deeper analysis beyond single model calls, PAT achieves a 34% recall improvement on the SPOT benchmark for math error detection. Piloted at STOC and ICML, it catches critical errors early, easing reviewer workloads while maintaining human oversight.
