AI Hiring Brief · 2026-09-23
32 frontier AI labs · 152 roles added in 24h · agihunt.info/en/jobs
Today at a glance
- Robotics push widens: ByteDance Doubao/Seed posted three dedicated robotics-hardware roles today — 机器人减速机设计工程师 (robot reducer/gearbox design engineer), 机器人嵌入式驱动工程师 (robot embedded drive engineer), and 机器人本体结构工程师 (robot body/structure engineer) — alongside a 量产型硬件产品经理 (mass-production hardware PM), while ModelBest (面壁智能) added a 具身算法3D感知与规控 (embodied algorithm — 3D perception and control) role and NVIDIA opened a Research Intern, Robotics slot. Physical-AI hiring is now visible on both sides of the Pacific.
- Tencent Hunyuan concentrates on the data flywheel: all 10 of Tencent Hunyuan's new postings today are about how the model is fed — 混元DataInfra 平台开发工程师 (DataInfra platform engineer), 混元大语言数据质量工程师 (LLM data quality engineer), 混元大模型漫爬数据策略算法工程师 (crawl-data strategy algorithm engineer), three separate 数据策略产品 (data strategy product) PM roles split by reasoning, code and vertical domains, plus community-operations roles for its expert data community — a single-day, single-theme burst.
- Microsoft AI still dwarfs the field on volume: 58 roles added and 99 closed today, for a 7-day net of 297 additions — more than five times OpenAI's 53 and nearly three times the combined 7-day total of every China-based lab tracked here (111).
- OpenAI clusters around trust and safety: new postings include a Fullstack Software Engineer for Child Safety Tools & Systems, a Regulatory Operations Analyst for User Safety & Risk Operations, and a Research Program Manager for Frontier Assurance under Safety Systems — a concentrated safety hire alongside a new Rosalind Life Sciences PM and Life Sciences partnerships role.
- SpaceXAI keeps building out data-center power: four of five new roles sit in Memphis/Southaven under the Data Center department — an Asset Manager (Energy Storage), an Electrical Technician (Power Generation), and two Medium Voltage Electrician postings — continuing the physical infrastructure buildout seen in prior days.
Company moves
OpenAI added 14 and closed 15 (53 over 7 days). Beyond the safety cluster above, it opened Ads Solutions engineering roles (Partner Solutions Engineer, Solutions Engineer) and finance hires (Lead, Revenue Accounting, Technical; Pricing Strategist, GTM), plus an Account Director for Large Enterprise — safety, monetization infrastructure and enterprise sales moving together.
Anthropic added 12 and closed 9 (51 over 7 days). A legal cluster stands out — IP Counsel, Transactions; Privacy Counsel; Litigation Counsel — alongside security/business-technology engineering leads and a Product Manager, Safeguards. International hires (External Affairs, Brussels; Partner Success Lead, London; Manager, Applied AI Architect, Seoul) point to policy and go-to-market expansion outside the US.
Google DeepMind added 4 and closed 2 (22 over 7 days), all research-facing: Research Scientist, Human-AI Interaction; Research Scientist/Engineer, Frontier Reasoning; and Research Engineer, Responsibility — reasoning and responsibility research still the throughline.
Microsoft AI added 58 and closed 99 today (297 over 7 days). Postings span Redmond software engineering (IC2 through Principal), AI inference/serving engineers, and Cloud Solution Architect/sales-specialist roles across Denmark, the UK, India, Taiwan, Singapore, Sweden, Vietnam and Brazil, plus a Senior Product Manager role based across Suzhou, Beijing and Shanghai.
Meta AI added 10 and closed 3 (18 over 7 days). Wearables AI shows up twice (Research Engineer, Language — Wearables Polyglot AI; Software Engineer, Wearables AI), alongside Production Systems Engineers for AI Network/AI Systems and an AI Research Scientist for FAIR Security, Privacy, and Reliability.
NVIDIA added 8 and closed 17 (30 over 7 days). New roles mix silicon (Senior Board Design Hardware Engineer), agent tooling (Compiler Engineer, Agentic Compilation Systems), and research pipeline building (PhD Research Intern, Learning Embodied Skills from Human Data; Research Intern, Robotics).
Apple AIML added 3 and closed 4 (16 over 7 days): a Machine Learning Engineer for Wallet Intelligence, an ML Research Engineer, and a Zurich ML internship on foundation models.
SpaceXAI added 5 and closed 4 (29 over 7 days), split between the Memphis power-infrastructure cluster above and a Client Account Manager role in Singapore.
Perplexity added 2 and closed 1 (8 over 7 days): a Sr. Workplace Coordinator and a Payroll Analyst — back-office scaling rather than product roles today.
Cursor added 3 with no closures (7 over 7 days): a Security GRC Engineer alongside an Account Executive and Regional Director for Geo Enterprise in Austin — enterprise sales plus compliance.
Lovable added 2 and closed 1 (3 over 7 days): a Product Partnership Manager and Senior Mobile Engineer, both in Stockholm.
Cohere added 1 (8 over 7 days): an IT Support Specialist in Dubai.
Scale AI added none today but closed 8 (5 over 7 days) — a visible contraction round with no replacement postings.
Cerebras added 1 (7 over 7 days): a Staff Software Engineer, Inference API, in Toronto.
Moonshot AI (月之暗面 Kimi) added 1 (9 over 7 days): a 国际化合规 (international compliance) role, suggesting continued overseas-market groundwork.
StepFun (阶跃星辰) added 1 and closed 1 (10 over 7 days): a 政府事务高级经理(网信/网安/党工团)(Senior Government Affairs Manager — cyberspace/cybersecurity/party-union affairs) role.
ModelBest (面壁智能) added 2 and closed 1 (10 over 7 days): the embodied-algorithm role above plus a 大模型项目经理(法律行业)(LLM Project Manager, legal industry) — vertical expansion and robotics in the same day.
Baidu AI added 4 and closed 5 (22 over 7 days): a Solutions Architect, an AI风险治理工程师 (AI risk governance engineer), a healthcare/life-sciences business development role, and an education Product Manager under Xiaodu.
ByteDance Doubao/Seed added 9 and closed 29 (38 over 7 days) — the largest China-based 7-day total in the dataset, led by the robotics cluster above plus a 视频生成RL算法工程师 (video-generation RL algorithm engineer) and a 推荐大模型算法工程师 (recommendation LLM algorithm engineer).
Tencent Hunyuan added 10 with zero closures (12 over 7 days) — see the data-flywheel cluster above.
01.AI (零一万物) added 1 and closed 1 (6 over 7 days): a Chief of Staff role.
SenseTime SenseNova (商汤日日新) added 1 (1 over 7 days): an Agent产品经理,企业助手 (Agent Product Manager, enterprise assistant) role.
Ten tracked labs showed no change today — Mistral AI, Together AI, Scale AI's peers Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha, Genmo, DeepSeek, Zhipu AI, Meituan LongCat, MiniMax (Hailuo) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen all held flat or saw only prior-week movement.
What it signals
The scale gap between Microsoft AI and everyone else keeps widening rather than narrowing: its 297 additions over 7 days is roughly 2.7 times the combined 7-day total of all nine China-based labs in this dataset (111), and more than five times OpenAI's 53. That gap says less about model quality than about org structure — Microsoft's req volume reflects a company-wide platform (cloud, security, sales specialists across a dozen countries) layered on top of AI work, not a comparable AI-research headcount advantage.
Within the China cohort, ByteDance Doubao/Seed is the clear pace-setter at 38 additions over 7 days, more than the next three China labs (Baidu 22, Tencent Hunyuan 12, StepFun and ModelBest 10 each) combined with room to spare. Its mix today — dedicated robot reducer, drive and structure engineers under Seed Model — reads as a hardware-embodiment bet distinct from the pure-software recommendation and video-generation roles it's also posting, suggesting Seed is running model research and physical robotics as parallel tracks rather than treating one as an afterthought.
Governance and trust functions are showing up across labs that otherwise have little in common: OpenAI's child-safety and frontier-assurance roles, Anthropic's IP/privacy/litigation counsel cluster, Moonshot's international compliance hire, StepFun's government-affairs manager, and Baidu's AI risk-governance engineer all landed in the same window. None of these are large in count, but their simultaneous appearance across US and Chinese labs suggests governance hiring has become a standing category rather than a reactive one-off, likely tracking regulatory attention rather than any single incident.
Today's closure volume — Microsoft's 99, ByteDance's 29, NVIDIA's 17, Scale AI's 8 against zero new roles — is large enough to be a churn signal rather than noise, but the underlying 7-day additions at Microsoft and ByteDance remain firmly positive, so this looks like normal requisition cycling at scale rather than a slowdown. Scale AI is the exception worth watching: no additions today against 8 closures and only 5 net over 7 days points to a genuinely quieter hiring posture there relative to its peers.
