32 frontier AI labs · 49 roles added in 24h · agihunt.info/en/jobs

Today at a glance

  • StepFun's one-day commercial sprint: StepFun (阶跃星辰) added 27 roles in 24 hours — more than half of everything added across all 32 tracked labs today — and nearly every one of them is commercial or go-to-market: "KA销售经理" (Key Account Sales Manager), "电商产品经理" (E-commerce Product Manager), "资深创意专家" (Senior Creative Expert), "GTM," and "社群和用户运营" (Community & User Operations), almost entirely based in Shanghai's Xuhui district.
  • OpenAI's hardware-and-energy build-out: new postings for "Software Engineer, Host Assurance," "Software Engineer, HSM Infrastructure Security, Consumer Devices," "Energy Regulatory Lead," and "Hardware Systems Planning Lead (1P)" point to OpenAI standing up its own consumer-device security and power infrastructure functions.
  • Anthropic treats compute as a finance discipline: three of Anthropic's four new roles are finance posts tied directly to compute — "Senior Manager, Infrastructure Asset Accounting," "Procurement Operations Business Partner, R&D Operations," and "Finance & Strategy, Compute (Central)."
  • Microsoft's churn outpaces everyone: Microsoft AI added 9 and closed 24 listings today, the largest net movement of any lab, with survivors landing in Silicon Engineering ("Principal Design Engineer") and a new "Principal Product Manager - Agentic Security" post.
  • ByteDance keeps pruning: ByteDance Doubao/Seed closed 17 listings with zero new postings today — the largest closure count of the day and enough to erase most of its already-thin weekly growth.

Company moves

OpenAI (779 open; 67 added over 7 days) added 5 and closed 2. Beyond the hardware and energy roles above, it posted a "Product Manager, Statsig" in Applied AI — enterprise tooling alongside the infrastructure push.

Anthropic (594 open; 68 added over 7 days) added 4 and closed 4. Its compute-finance cluster is paired with a "Product Designer, Evals & Prompts" — accounting discipline scaling in step with product research.

Microsoft AI (598 open; 220 added over 7 days) added 9 against 24 closures, the day's biggest churn by far. New roles also include a run of "Senior/Principal Software Development Engineer - XBOX Product Growth" posts — silicon, agent security, and gaming growth all moving at once even as older listings roll off.

Meta AI (166 open; 23 added over 7 days) added one role: "Production Network Manager, Backbone Engineering," spanning Infrastructure and AI Infrastructure across Dublin and London — European network capacity expansion.

NVIDIA (563 open; 36 added over 7 days) added nothing today and closed one — a quiet day after a week of steady accumulation.

Apple AIML (291 open; 22 added over 7 days) added 2 and closed 1: "Senior Systems Engineer - Special Projects" and "Machine Learning Researcher Multi-Modal Reasoning," both in Cupertino.

SpaceXAI (257 open; 23 added over 7 days) added nothing and closed 2.

Perplexity (112 open; 17 added over 7 days) added one role, "Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Infrastructure)," listed across eight cities from San Francisco to Berlin — continued infra hiring with wide location flexibility.

Scale AI (215 open; 10 added over 7 days) added nothing and closed 1.

StepFun (阶跃星辰) (201 open; 43 added over 7 days) is the day's outlier — see above. Its one non-Xuhui posting, "服务经理(备件)" (Service Manager, Spare Parts), is based in Shenzhen's Nanshan district, hinting at a service-and-hardware footprint outside Shanghai.

Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫) (68 open) added nothing and closed 2 today.

Baidu AI (450 open; 10 added over 7 days) added nothing and closed 3.

ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) (935 open; 9 added over 7 days) closed 17 with no new postings — see above.

The remaining tracked labs — Google DeepMind (谷歌 DeepMind), Mistral AI, Cursor, Lovable, Cohere, Together AI, Cerebras, Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha, Genmo, Moonshot AI (月之暗面 Kimi), DeepSeek (深度求索), Zhipu AI (智谱 AI), ModelBest (面壁智能), Tencent Hunyuan (腾讯混元), MiniMax (Hailuo) (MiniMax 海螺), 01.AI (Yi) (零一万物), SenseTime SenseNova (商汤日日新), and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) — showed no change today.

What it signals

The 7-day numbers make Microsoft AI's scale hard to miss: 220 additions in a week is more than three times Anthropic's 68 and OpenAI's 67, the next-highest global labs. But Microsoft is also the highest-churn account in the dataset — 24 closures in a single day — which reads less like linear headcount growth and more like continuous reshuffling across a very large requisition base, with silicon, agentic security, and Xbox growth as the areas where net additions are actually sticking.

OpenAI and Anthropic, by contrast, show smaller absolute weekly counts but a tighter thematic focus. OpenAI's newest roles are almost all about running its own hardware and power infrastructure — host assurance, HSM security for consumer devices, energy regulation, hardware systems planning — while Anthropic's are almost all about accounting for compute spend as a distinct operating line. Neither looks like a research hiring wave; both look like the plumbing work that follows a lab that has already committed to large, capital-intensive infrastructure.

Among Chinese labs, the week is dominated by a single event rather than a broad trend: StepFun's 43 additions over 7 days are mostly the 27 that landed today, almost entirely commercial and marketing roles rather than research or engineering. That makes it a one-day commercialization push, not evidence of StepFun scaling R&D. Elsewhere in China, the picture is flat to contracting — DeepSeek, Zhipu AI, 01.AI, SenseTime SenseNova, and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen all show zero net change over 7 days, and ByteDance Doubao/Seed, despite still holding the largest total open count of any company tracked, closed 17 listings today alone against only 9 added over the full week. That combination — flat-to-shrinking listings at China's largest labs, with StepFun's marketing sprint as the exception — suggests consolidation is more the norm than expansion among China's frontier players this week, in contrast to the steadier infrastructure-driven growth still visible at the top US labs.

Smaller infrastructure and tooling vendors — NVIDIA (36 over 7 days), Cerebras (10), Scale AI (10), Together AI (2) — kept adding at a modest, steady pace, while product-layer startups like Cursor (6), Lovable (4), and Cohere (4) ticked up slowly, neither accelerating nor pulling back.
