Grok Bot launches in-chat shopping with price comparison, order tracking and passkey checkout
On November 4, xAI's Grok Bot rolled out a major update centered on shopping on the user's behalf—browsing, paying, and tracking deliveries can now all be done inside the chat.
Confirmed
- Users can search and browse products in chat, with cards showing images, ratings, prices, and store info; tapping through leads to a product page for checkout, and package delivery can be tracked in the same flow (@XFreeze).
- The new shopping experience supports finding the best prices and deals, comparing products, and tracking all ongoing orders (@testingcatalog, @Baconbrix, reposted by @belcedogru).
- Vault can now store payment methods and contacts, which are used directly at checkout (@XFreeze).
- Payment confirmation will add passkey and hardware security key support to simplify purchase verification; a screenshot from testingcatalog also shows an "Import Memory" entry appearing in settings (@testingcatalog).
Not yet confirmed
- Officials say more Vault capabilities will roll out over time, with no details disclosed (@XFreeze).
- @testingcatalog describes passkey support as "coming soon," and it's unclear whether it's fully live yet.
Why it matters
- This is a key step in Grok Bot's evolution from a chat assistant to an action-taking agent: price comparison, checkout, payment, and order tracking form a complete closed loop, with no need to leave the chat.
- Developer Baconbrix said the team has been polishing the details with the goal of getting users the best prices, adding "this is just the beginning"—hinting at more agent capabilities to come.
