UIUC Paper Finds AI Novelty Checks Reject 96% of Real Research Ideas

A UIUC paper (arXiv:2610.36511) shows that deployed novelty checks in AI scientist pipelines catch all 380 disguised duplicate papers but falsely reject 96% of genuine human research ideas. The authors propose claim-level novelty assessment across four datasets to reduce such false kills.
