NBER RCT: AI Assistant Improves Lawyers' Output but Not Judgment

A three-month NBER randomized trial across 11 US law firms and 133 patent lawyers found that AI drafting assistants improved document quality, especially for junior lawyers, but did not improve their judgment when working without AI.
