Researchers at UMass Chan demonstrated their auto-optimize tool, which automatically optimizes classic bioinformatics tools like bedtools, Picard MarkDuplicates, and leafcutter, achieving 2-10x speedups and up to 20x memory reduction while producing byte-identical outputs.
