OpenAI DevDay Exchange tour hits Berlin and Paris

OpenAI held two DevDay Exchange developer tour events in Europe in late October: the Berlin stop wrapped up around October 27, and the Paris stop ran October 28-29 to a packed house. Developer experience lead Romain Huet had live announcements on stage at both stops, and host Laura Modiano remarked that the tradition of "dropping news" continues.

Confirmed

• The Paris event took place in a glass-roofed venue, fully packed; Romain Huet, back in his home country, opened the session, saying he looked forward to reconnecting with the French developer community and learning what they are building
• Codex Ambassadors community members attended the Paris stop, with an enthusiastic atmosphere, as part of OpenAI's developer community tour
• The Berlin stop closed with a fireside chat featuring Romain Huet, Laura Modiano, and engineering member Kate Reznikova

Not yet confirmed

• Neither post details what specific "news" was announced at the Berlin or Paris stops
• The claim that "OpenAI is betting on harnesses rather than just stronger models" comes from a secondhand account by attendee pawlean; the exact wording and context have not been made public

Why it matters

• DevDay Exchange is a key touring format for OpenAI to reach European developer communities, and back-to-back stops in Berlin and Paris each with live announcements signal an accelerating community operations cadence
• If the "betting on harnesses" observation is accurate, it suggests OpenAI believes the toolchain/orchestration layer above models—not raw model capability—is the next competitive battleground
