An audit of 73 public benchmark agent traces found 74% had measurable token waste, with one agent spending 35% of I/O on redundant self-verification. The author released the open-source CLI tool chewme-audit (MIT) to parse Langfuse, LangSmith, JSONL and Claude Code traces locally.
