X launches invite-only Video Kickstart Bonus; creators report $500 payouts

Around October 16, multiple bloggers revealed that X (Twitter) had launched a new Video Kickstart Bonus program for video creators—an invite-only pilot widely read as X doubling down on video and going head-to-head with YouTube for creators.

Confirmed

The program is an invite-only pilot; creators must receive an official invitation and sign up by October 30.
Key rules: videos must be vertical, under 3 minutes, and original; videos posted on other platforms qualify too, but no watermarks; creators must post on at least 15 days within the 30-day window.
Multiple creators shared Creator Studio screenshots showing the actual "Video Kickstart Bonus" reward is $500, regardless of views or engagement.
One creator confirmed receiving $500, joking that their video was "only worth $500" but taking the money anyway.

Unconfirmed

Claims of "up to $5,000 for 15 videos in 30 days" are circulating in reposts, but real screenshots so far only show the $500 tier; whether $5,000 is an achievable top tier for some accounts lacks first-hand evidence.

Why it matters

The move signals X's intent to compete directly with YouTube for video creators, and the "get paid for posting, no views required" model dramatically lowers the barrier for creators to switch platforms.
The gap between rumored and actual payouts also reminds creators to rely on the official invitation terms rather than inflating their revenue expectations.
