10 ChatGPT Photo Editing Prompts Spark "RIP Photoshop" Buzz

On October 15, Twitter account aitrendzxyz posted a collection of 10 ChatGPT photo-editing prompts billed as "RIP Photoshop?", claiming that ChatGPT can repair, retouch, and restore photos like a professional retoucher—directly challenging Photoshop's place in everyday photo editing.

Confirmed

• Prompt #1 is a professional-grade quality enhancement: improve lighting, exposure, sharpness, color, and contrast while keeping textures and details natural.
• Prompt #2 is object removal: erase passersby, trash cans, and other clutter, with the background naturally filled in so light, shadows, texture, and angle match the original, leaving edits virtually invisible.
• Prompt #3 is magazine-style color grading: adds high-end color grading, balanced lighting, and clean contrast for a magazine-cover look while keeping people recognizable.
• Prompt #6 is old photo restoration: fix scratches, fading, stains, and damage, restoring detail while preserving faces, expressions, clothing, and the nostalgic feel, avoiding any "fake" artifacts.
• Prompt #7 is light repair: tone down overexposed areas, brighten shadows, balance lighting, and improve overall exposure while keeping skin tones, colors, and details natural—ideal for rescuing overly dark or blown-out photos.

Why it matters

The collection shows that as ChatGPT's image-editing capabilities grow, ordinary users with structured prompts can handle retouching tasks that once required professional software and skills. If the results live up to the claims, "everyday photo editing"—Photoshop's core use case—could be partially replaced by conversational AI, worth watching for designers, photographers, and tool vendors. That said, all these claims come from aitrendzxyz's one-sided demos, with no independent comparative reviews attached.
