Claude Code Rolls Out Idle Compaction for Stale Sessions

Claude Code introduced idle compaction, automatically compressing 200K+ token sessions after about 54 minutes of inactivity as the prompt cache only lasts an hour. Lydia Hallie noted the feature can be disabled or tuned via a single settings line.
