Ghost AI Launches Core, a $3,499 Fully Local Personal AI Computer

On October 6, startup Ghost AI unveiled Core, a "personal AI computer" priced at $3,499, touting no subscription fees and positioning itself as "a physical home for your intelligence." The first batch has sold out, with the official site noting shipments start October 31; a second batch is open for registration, and the product comes with a one-year warranty and 30-day returns.

Confirmed

• Models run entirely on-device, with data never leaving the device — the pitch is AI that belongs fully to the user
• Can connect to the user's apps, files, and devices, building life context around the clock (7×24) and proactively offering suggestions (e.g., health recovery scores, package tracking, grocery list reminders)
• Specs include an RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell GPU, AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 24GB of VRAM, and 64GB of DDR5 memory
• First batch sold out, shipping October 31; second batch open for registration

Not yet confirmed

• Reposter ronaldmannak questioned the design: with only 24GB of VRAM paired with 64GB of system RAM, usable model quality may be limited unless a weight-streaming approach is used
• ziwenxu broke down the costs, estimating parts bought separately at roughly $4,500 (GPU plus CPU around $3,400, 64GB DDR5 memory around $1,000), making the $3,499 price below cost — casting doubt on whether the business model works

Why it matters

Core represents yet another attempt at "personal AI hardware": differentiating from cloud subscription AI services through fully local operation, data privacy, and continuous context accumulation. But its below-cost pricing and whether on-device compute can actually support usable models remain the biggest open questions about such products.
