Open-Source AI Achieves Sub-millimeter X-ray to 3D CT Registration

MIT and collaborators published the fully open-source xvr framework in Nature, combining patient-specific neural networks with gradient optimization to register intraoperative 2D X-ray fluoroscopy with preoperative 3D CT/MRI volumes at sub-millimeter accuracy. The work fills a long-standing gap in surgical navigation.
