Grok Bot Gains Voice Interaction and Voice Messages on X

On September 18, xAI's Grok Bot "spoke its first words," gaining voice conversation capability, with an official demo video and confirmation via Musk's repost. The feature is rolling out in batches to desktop and mobile over the following days; the next day, Grok Bot was found to also send voice messages to users.

Users can speak to the Bot in natural language while it works, no longer needing to type commands; developer johnbai demoed voice calling and said he never wants to type again, suggesting third-party Grok bots can adopt voice interaction.
A hands-on demo video was published; a reposter called it "the future," and some posts described Grok speaking in a physical robot form—a rare combination of hardware and large models.
On September 19, @XFreeze and @xiaohu confirmed Grok Bot can now send voice messages directly to users on X.
