RCT finds LLMs fail to significantly boost novice wet-lab success
An RCT by ActiveSiteBio had 150 novices complete five wet-lab molecular biology tasks using either an LLM or just Google. LLMs showed some help in certain steps but did not significantly improve success on end-to-end core tasks.
