Strogatz: singularity doesn't break Navier-Stokes, continuum limit does
Strogatz argues a finite-time singularity wouldn't make Navier-Stokes a bad model of water; it remains excellent where the continuum approximation holds. Real water never develops infinite vorticity because molecular scales arrive first, invalidating the continuum assumption.
