Nex-AGI Open-Sources Nex-N2.5 Family, Up to 1.6T Parameters
On Sept 8–9, Nex-AGI released the open-source Nex-N2.5 agent model family on Hugging Face — three Apache 2.0 models also listed on ModelScope and GitHub, covering agent deployments from single-node to massive scale. All three are live on the Hugging Face collection page; per @AdinaYakup, Pro's weights were still pending.

- Nex-N2.5-mini (35B), Nex-N2.5-Pro (397B MoE) and Nex-N2.5-Max (1.6T MoE) are all on Hugging Face under Apache 2.0.
- mini (35B) is built on the Qwen3.5 MoE architecture, supports image-text-to-text multimodal dialogue per the nex-agi team, and trended on Hugging Face; a repost by @multimodalart says mini and Pro offer multimodal understanding and computer use. mini runs tool-calling on 2×H100.
- Pro is a 397B mixture-of-experts model, trending on Hugging Face and deployable via endpoints.
- Max targets agents and long-horizon workflows, focused on coding and tool calling, with 262K context, text-only, weights uploaded.
Unconfirmed
- @airesearch12 reposted that Max trails Claude Opus 5 by only 0.1 point on agent benchmarks, echoed by @multimodalart; no original benchmark report backs this.
- Actual release timing of Pro's weights remains unclear.
Why it matters
- A 1.6T-parameter open-source MoE is exceptionally rare; if benchmarks hold, it delivers near-Claude Opus 5 agent capability under Apache 2.0, a major boost for the open agent ecosystem.
- The mini tier runs tool-calling on just 2×H100 with image-text input via Qwen3.5 MoE, lowering barriers to local multimodal agent deployment.
