Lux3D Launches: High-Fidelity 3D Models from a Single Image or Text in 40 Seconds
Lux3D has launched an AI 3D generation tool that lets users quickly produce a complete 3D model—ready to export as a usable file—from just one photo or a single line of text prompt. The poster @drcintas believes this marks the end of the era when AI-generated 3D models "looked melted."
Confirmed
- Models can be generated from a single image or text: entering the prompt "steampunk mechanical owl" produced a 3DGS (3D Gaussian Splatting) preview in 20 seconds and a clean mesh in 40 seconds
- In testing, four photos of a ceramic cup (front, side, back, and an intermediate angle) were used to generate a full 3D model that could be exported directly as GLB with no cleanup needed
- Beyond silhouette and base color, it can reconstruct PBR attributes such as metalness, roughness, transparency, and refractive gloss
- Offers two interfaces: Workbench supports one-click generation for quick results, while Canvas provides a node-based workflow for finer control at every step; the author shared a trial link
Why it matters
- Traditional 3D modeling is manual work; Lux3D compresses the journey from a single image or one-line text to a usable mesh down to about a minute, with built-in PBR materials and format export, lowering the barrier to 3D content creation
